Alright, why can't every one systematically make unreal better by doing a new unreal patch which allows, new adavanced objects. Like for example. Realistic combat, just like BOZO's minguns and auto mag+a good security+new player models, hint hint (spacemarines). I think we should develop a team to make a unbileveable inprovement to unreal. And show that unreal isnt lacking anything. Including, item meshs, that show up on player, and that dont lag behind during a internet play, and maybe a unreal weighing system. Plus the new unreal high-res textures. I wish we could do that. If we can i am in! _________________ www.freewebs.com/uascpred - Predator's mod. |

Yeah, and we will all implement Havok physics into Unreal + add new 6000 polygon player meshes with over 210 animations for every little movement. And also we will include 15 new weapons for everybody to be happy. And we will make Unreal run on every 20 MHz computer with over 250 FPS and no lags during multiplayer.
:p
Stupid question, man. Why should everyone make a new patch? Is someone able to/wants to? Everyone wants a new unreal patch, I want a total Unreal remake on the Unreal Engine 3 with no balance/gameplay changes, just newer graphics etc. Will someone make it? No. Even if you got ideas, ideas alone don't make it. You plain have no idea how hard it is to code something or make a model. The spacemarines you mentioned would be hard to make, even if we just would use the spacemarine model from RTNP. It will need the animations players have. And here hardly are any experienced modellers and skinners which will do that. (Barely saw someone making a good Unreal skin for himself excepting for a paint-made pixelly own name on the back of the playermodel and some lame recolor.)
Think before opening threads. And look on how many threads you already opened, aren't you a bit spammy? You got.. 15 threads on this page of the General forum. Don't overdo it.
- There is nothing wrong with this thread. Everyone is welcome to post his/her thoughts. Technically it's possible for the community to improve Unreal a lot further, but what I heared there are not too many players who want this kind of patches. -Hyper
Yes, it is. Everyone wants Unreal to be better, but who is gonna make it? Do you have a professional team which will make the models, skins and scripts? Even if the guys who made Serpentine or Infiltration would work on the models, they won't turn out good as you can see on Serp/INF itself, the models aren't good! So the chance of getting GOOD modellers is even lower than a chance of even getting any.

Doing such a thing would require full access to the Unreal source code which we do not have. _________________ StalwartUK |

Not for everything a full source code is needed. Actually, for the most enhancements the current code is enough:
- Weapons and (spacemarine) pawns
- Secutity: Nephthys and UProtect (DM) JCoopZ (Coop) package checker
- High-polygon 3D Models (Not sure, maybe they can be created in 3D Studio and then imported to Unreal)
- OldUnreal MultiMedia patch
- S3TC textures _________________ Alter your reality...forever.

I can't imagine Unreal Engine 1 can handle high-poly characters without a noticable lag. |

Maybe. I would like to see a demo to test it myself. I guess it will run fine at modern PC's with OpenGL accelerator. But because I never saw hi-res models in Unreal i'm not sure if the engine supports it altogether. _________________ Alter your reality...forever.

I meant like just a little upgrade not a full scale rag doll physics upgrade
