I'm running a Crystal Castles server now. For the ones of you who don't know this mod yet: It's a deathmatch variant where you can gain score by collecting as many crystals as you can. Your opponents (bots and/or players) do the same so it might be a good idea to hunt them down. Or rob them with the Hope Gem. :badgrin:

Unreal Crystal Castles is based on an old '80's arcade game. More details can be found at the CC site.

In the case you have to leave or crash: Your score can be recivered with Smartballs Score Recovery.

This server features the same security features as the other servers: A server firewall (Blackice), Nepthys and UProtect.

The Crystal Castles mod is currently under reconstruction by <NDP>Bozo so the server might get an update somewhere in the coming months. (I don't know when exactly) He's also busy with a few extra maps. I had a look at his beta server last December, and it looks quite nice.

Just thought I would drop by and give you an update.

I've fixed just about all the bugs we had listed earlier and am in the process of adding some new features right now. Hopefully I should have the updated code ready by the end of the month. One map is 100% ready at the moment but I am working on three others also.

I've been really busy working on Real Life stuff in addition to a couple of UT2K4 projects on the side so haven't been spending too much time on the Unreal stuff lately. I got fired up this week and fixed a whole bunch of bugs though and started a couple of new Unreal side projects. (Sorta Related)

Glad you are running a CC Server!!

I'm sorry to hear you're fired. I hope it won't get you into trouble.
I'm glad to update the server when the updates are released, and a few new maps are always nice. The server is not being used a lot, but that's not a problem, because I already have my server PC on for HyperCoop so CC only takes some extra RAM.

I'm not sure if this is a joke or not. Maybe it is just you misunderstanding a bit of English. Rough translations:

fired = lost your job

fired up = excited and/or focused on working hard at something


I'm definately fired up since I run my own business and generally wouldn't fire myself.

I've been getting the Monster Spawner Projectile Controller working tonight. Changes to the size, damage, and speed of projectiles is now working for most monsters. This is really going to take lots of testing to make sure everything is working right but it should be nice once ready.

For a while I thought that you had abandoned Unreal altogether and had gone totally to UT2004 .

Got distracted with UT2004 for awhile putting out stuff for the contest but have left there for a bit to tackle some Unreal One projects I had left hanging. I still am working on one project for UT2004 but got fed up working through all the bugs in it so came back to Unreal One to develop some new stuff for a bit. The Crystal Castles update should be ready shortly - I'll release a new map along with it and hopefully get some feedback while I tackle the rest of the maps I have been working on.

This update will generally incorporate all the current bugfixes and adds a few new things and behind-the-scenes capabilities. Bots are smarter so should improve gameplay quite a bit. I've already started planning for the development of some new stuff in the future that will include some new gametypes and weapons.

As a side project, I have been working on updating the hitscan weapons (ie: AMSD Secondary, Rifle, AutoMag, and Minigun) to operate through Warp Zone portals. This should give some more life to the Warp Zone portal levels out there. (DMdeCyberEscher, DM2001_V2, etc) I have a proof-of-concept build operating already - it needs LOTS of tweaking though.
