Its got to be software issues.. its extreme ,, what about formatting, see if that has the effect.

do u have a 2nd PC in the house you can test the connection with ?

formatting takes what 45 mins complete install. loading unreal takes 5 mins., I know I'd rather do that than spend eons trying to find another solution

If formatting fixes the problem, then somewhere a firewall, maybe adware caused the problem,

I'm no expert, but I've had my share pf connection problems

You might want to check if you don't make too many or too quick connections. Things like rapid reconnecting, having several server queries open or rapid refreshing of the gamespy list may cause problems like this.
