|
|
Few days ago I've released U1 version of my Particle Emitter which was originally written for UT'99. The only difference between UT'99 and U1 version is lack of decals in U1 version. Short list of features:
* Up to 16 different templates in one Particle Emitter
* Can fade in/out
* 5 different states (TriggerControl/TriggerTurnsOff/TriggerTurnsOn/TriggerToggle/TriggeredBlast)
* 2 different selection methods
* 2 different burst methods
* Collision detection
* Performance mode
and of course it's 100% net compatible (at least it works good on UT'99 dedicated server). The links for the project are:
* http://turniej.unreal.pl/files/RParticlesU1a.zip - for archive (v. 1.2)
* http://turniej.unreal.pl/files/RParticlesU1.zip - for archive (v. 1.0)
* http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/Raven/RParticles - for On-Line readme.
RParticles was compiled on 226 and it's pure UnrealScript. Here's in game pic:
it's one, simple template from TCO (http://mods.moddb.com/6265/the-chosen-one). Any comments and ideas are welcome. _________________

So it won't work under 225f properly _________________ Beware the lollipop of mediocrity - lick it once and you suck forever.

I have no idea, you have to try it by your self. I think it should work good though.
PS If it works good on version other then 226 (eg. 225f or UGold) post it here, and I'll add info on wiki. _________________

Unreal 1 servers mainly run u225, so 225 compatibility is quite important for this to be practically useful. Let me know when you know if it is u225 compatible. _________________ Alter your reality...forever.

OK, I've downloaded 225f, and RParticles works fine under that version, so i assume it should run good on even older versions. _________________

Older versions doesn't really matter - 225f is most popular for coop servers and that's what matter for us. _________________ Beware the lollipop of mediocrity - lick it once and you suck forever.

I'm planning to release also few tools created for TCO (like Weather Simulator, Grass Generator and more). I'll make them also 225f compatible (I'll release 'em after TCO is out) _________________

I've been working hard on update, so expect one very soon. An update will add following new features to the system:
- support for animated meshes
- random rotation
- ability to specify particles destination (actor)
- 'ParticlePath' actor, which changes particle destination (you can make particles "interpolate" through points)
- effect area can be override in template
- mesh can face velocity or specified actor
This are new features in UT version, but they'll all work on U1 version as well (at least i think they will).
I'll wait few more days before I release (maybe I'll find something new to add to the system). _________________

.u packages are normally not affected by the version of Unreal, only maps are because 226f adds a so called 'LevelSummary' object which other versions don't have, so as long you dont expand a 226f exclusive object; it will work fine in other versions.
