Ever since Unreal Tournament 2004 came out, all I have wanted is to see the old unreal world and weapons, through the graphical eyes of the new unreal. To be able to re-live it all again with cutting-edge graphics. At that time I did not even know how to build a brush. The best I was doing was setting textures and copying things. But now, I know my way around the editor a bit and well, I am going to learn everything there is to learn. I have seen previews of the Unreal ED for Unreal Tournament 2007, and it inspired me. I am going to push myself to the limmit - and further, to re-create the Unreal Universe for Unreal Tournament 2007. It will take me ages but I am deturmined to do it and you guys will be the first I share it with. I will be running the only Coop server for UT2007. (besides invasion and that but you guys get the point) Coop servers that we all know and love have all dryed up in the latest versions of unreal - sure, the graphics are awsome but the theme from Unreal1 is very strong and wonderous, and I am going to make it a vibrant very real world. I want to be able to host a coop server just like old unreal only for the latest version of UT. As soon as the game is releaced I am going to be all over the editor like ants on a picnic basket. To let the world re-live the dream that all unreal was born from, that my passion was born from, that is my dream. And I will make it a reality. Like Hyper says - Alter Your Reality... Forever. Hyper, that is EXACTLY what I am going to do.

and well, while I wait for the game to come out, I am sharpening up my editing skills on the old unreal ed. I am already practicing on re-making all of the portals and movers and triggers and etc. Its allot of work, but I dont feel like copying and pasting the maps, you know? I want them to be the same maps but entirely different, if you guys get where i am going with this.

What do you guys think? Some people may think this is retarted but I think it will be wonderful. I am also aware that some body or some peoples have gotten this idea for UT2004, but like i said, mine is for UT2007, with far sharper graphics and effects. (plus I thought the name is kinda catchey) ;)

That's a very nice idea you got there. I *really* would love to see Unreal rebuilt in all the glory of UT2007 with coop support and so.

-BUT-

I've seen many attampts to re-create Unreal in the newer engines, and they all started with the same truely meant enthousiastic plans as you have now, but somehow they failed. That experience made me a bit sceptical, and I'm afraid that this project will end up the same.

It will take ages to build, especially when you're alone and sooner or later you will get in conflict with real-life and other cool projects which all need your time.

A long time ago I had the same 'feeling of afraidness' when Winged Unicorn announced his Legend of Vandora project. You will need a strong team to make this project succeed.

I certainly do not want to stop you, but I DO want you to think about the consequences of announcing such a big project.

The same guy [Tormented] told me he owned Unreal, but I found out he was lying.

Hey, when you start this project, can you show us some screenshots when you get partway done? I don't think I'm ever getting UT2k7.

Yep hyper I know - this is going to push my patience over the border between eagerness and insanity. However if anyone can do this it's me - since I have all the time in the world. I have each day from 2:30 to 7:00 the next day. Plus I don't get out much ... hyper remember back in the day, how often I was on HyperCoop? All day remember? I plan to put that time into this project. When summer hits in like 12 days my job is also going to be 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. The sky is the limmit, but with all the building issues and general protection faults Im gonna get during this, its going to take a maricle to keep me sane eh?
Hm, when I do get started, I will indeed post screenshots of my progress. If push comes to shove, I MAY need help... in the very LEAST speeding things up for the sake of the world. Oh, what do you think of the name in the smallest of things? anyone got a better name? I say, a project this importaint needs a good name at least.

see, lots of people have really busy days, tons of things to do, but me, I am bored most of the time. So I kinda need to do this...

But yeah, its gonna take forever. so what? :p

EDIT: Im sticking with "Dawn of Na-Pali" because it owns.
I just got bored so I made a logo for it. It needed one lol



um one more thing...about that coding team ... lol where can I exactly find one? Mabye I can get winged unicorn and his coders to help huh? If I build the first couple maps they might be inspired to help. :)

ah, and killer skaarj, you bring up a small but yet huge point. I was told I need an ENTIRELY new computer to run UT2007, and my computer is an Asus. I dont think everyone has a state of the art computer so... that could be problem #1. I will be going out and buying the needed computer soon, but it DOES seem like a bit much.

Nice logo you have there. It could be a good idea indeed to contact the former LoV team, because there once were plans to continue the project in Unreal Engine 3.0 technology. I'm unsure if they are still having those plans, it it's probably worth asking.

I dought they would be up for something like this, it most likley WILL be a solo project for me. I am giving myself around 1 month - max 3 months per map. However - I will be needing help for the following things for sure :

. Getting the Coop gametype working
. Getting the items working and display
I have NO CLUE on getting the item display working yet. (flashlight, translator, etc)

Yup. I just might save this for last, and worry about the maps first. If nobody can help me there, it's cool, I will nose around in the editor enough and try my hand at it. I might try something like changing the display of a certain HUB type thing such as the shield display or etc. But I will have SOMETHING to an inventory going.

yeah, I can do that once the game comes out.
So does anyone have an idea of how to get an inventory working in the newer engines? Or something simular? As long as items are usable and visbible and you can scroll through them.

agreed. I was already planning on it, it was defanatly to small and the crash site is to ..clean. I have plans of reckage everywhere with peices of ship on fire scattered everywhere. (flaming debree will be awsome) I am gonna make it silver to, including the vorkex rikers map itself. nyleve is gonna be awsome. I have brushes saved from UT2004 for the hillsides, rocks, and a beach-like shore and a huge waterfall. Im gonna enhance the cave to.. but just a little.

nyleve is my favorite map because deathpax always used it for the ksa clanserver and I had loads of fun there. So I have a lot of memories with nyleve so i intend to make it really shine. You remember the days of the ksa clanserver right skaarj?

i know 2 great teams the team vortex and another just dont remember the name of the team. But Team Vortex made a great UTcoop Mod called UTOP=Unreal tournament Operation Na-Pali one of the best Ut Mod ever made in UT that was i think atleast. Try to contact ..:.: hes an great modder who converted Ut weapons to unreal

i could attempt to create a coop game into ut 2007.
but i will first have to get it. and udnerstand it.
since ut2004 allready had a different object structure (or how u call it)

only ill get it i will see what i can do

(if i still play unreal then ofcourse)

*Like 1 year later*

mmm still waiting for the game to come out.
Now that they canceled unreal tournament 2007 and changed it to unreal tournament 3, its going to be even harder. The new game requires an even BETTER computer then my newest. The way the new UT3 itself is set up differently from the old planned UT2k7, it could be harder, or it might even be easier who knows. From the new trailers it looks like it has COOP. Hyper here we are a year later. You are still keeping hypercoop alive. I seriously respect you for that. If you can keep going - so can I, despite the troubles that still rise to the surface.
