I received the following news submit in my mail but it did not really fit at the frontpage because it is not about Unreal 1. But because some of you may still be interested I'll post it here:

3D Buzz is pleased to announce the official launch of the Old School Level Design Contest for Unreal Tournament 3! The Unreal mod community is in need of some new recruits, and we want you to be one of them! This contest is unique in that ONLY those assets included with the retail version of Unreal Tournament 3 are permitted; absolutely NO custom content can be used in your level! This means that even if you’re completely new to the modding scene, you still have a chance to win some incredible prizes, including a chance to have your level reviewed by none other than Epic’s Design Director, Cliff Bleszinski!


Contest Prizes:


Grand Prize Winner:


- $1000 cash prize

- PlayStation 3 game console (or $500 cash)

- Autographed copy of Unreal Tournament 3 signed by the developers

- Video review of your level by the staff of 3D Buzz

- Video review of your level by Epic Design Director Cliff Bleszinski


First and Second Runners-Up:

This first contest involves the creation of a Deathmatch type map. Entry requires that all contestants create a frequently updated Work-In-Progress forum thread over at 3D Buzz’s website. Meh.. I was going to enter that but thats before I finished reading it. I originally thought the statement meant an all-BSP level with no meshes. I hate using static meshes personally.

pff UT3, cant even run the game normally, not mentioning ive never worked with that engine could use the money though...

I have a sudden urge to make DM-Curse for Ut3...How dare they not have Curse...Deck17 is getting old quickly .. and its the only map I like/play...

I thaught the UT3 engine had Skeletal meshes to??

Yeah but thats for actors.. Static meshes are still used in Ut3 for all the decoration.
