Welcome to the Ranking Page

Since: Saturday, October 3rd 14:35 1998
This page tells you about how well you have been playing Multiplayer Death Match. As an objetive parameter your Rank is calculated.

How to get into the Ranking?
Of all players seen on the server (currently 14 ), only those top 90 with enough Incidents are chosen in the first step. These are then sorted by their Netto % scores leaving a maximum of 24 Players. In all 14 made it into the Ranking.
I am only Ranking those players, that have the most incidents *and* highest Netto % for 3 reasons: One the ranking is only as good (objective, fair) as the frag statistic is. In other words the ranking has to be done on folks with lots of frags/deaths. Second the only high "Netto %" are chosen to ensure that only the "best" are bashing in their heads. If you would allow "weak" players into the Ranking, the "strong" players would rip them off just to get better in Ranking, instead of hitting others that are good too. Thirdly the tables & matrices get awfully big, and you would end up having to download hundreds of K's, if I ranked everyone.

Data Basis?
Basis of all ranking is the socalled Ranking Matrix. It nicely sums up all the data. It shows your frags, deaths, and suicides (for more info see that page).

How does the Ranking work?
Using the Rank Matrix, for each pair of players i and j, we calculate: For all i!=j (frags/deaths) matrix[i][j] - matrix[j][i] (Frags i scored against j minus the Frags j scored again i). This is done for all possible other players j, telling us how good player i has been doing against all these other players. Summing up these differences, and subtracting player i's suicides, we get a "netto performance". The latter still has to be devided by the number of contacts (possible j's).

Rank Values ?
The above yields the normed Rank values, that run from 0 to 100. 50 is your average player that does not suicide, and gets hit as much as get hands out. So you will want to have values above 50... trust me ;).

Matrix Details
To make it easier for you to compare if you are being hit more by certain players, than you are hitting them, see the so called Difference Matrix. For each player pair i and j the difference matrix[i][j]-matrix[j][i] is calculated. In other words if in your horizontal player line you only see positive values then no one is hitting you more than you are hitting them. The suicides have been removed.

List of
Ranked
Players
Here is a list of players that have enough Incidents and high Netto % scores to make it into the top 24 list of Ranked players. For your convenience names are alphabetically sorted.

Note that this page uses an Intensity color coding. The player N° and color match those in the Ranking Matrix below. The "top" players in ranking are colored in Red, and the "weakest" in Dark Blue.

Ranking

It won't let you go!

It won't let you sleep!

It will make you even
more addicted to Multi-
player Death Match
Gaming!

So be warned!!!! ;)

Enough babble :)... this is where a "woopie!" or the weeping begins... Real Ranking 8-). Using the Rank Matrix as data basis, a player list sorted by rank is calculated. The more frags you score against other players, without getting hit too much, the better your ranking. Also your suicide count should be low. Note you are ranked against each player, and every player counts the same, so if you lose against a few you can make points by hitting others. But also note your ranking will only improve if you hit players in the matrix. So hitting weak players is of no use at all and only spoils the beginners fun.
This is all the more true because, the players Ranked are those that have played a lot *and* have high Netto % values. In other words "weak" players will *not* be *in* the matrix, most of the time.

Rank Your Rank, e.g. how good (efficient) you are playing. Values range from 0 to 100, where 50 is your average player that does not suicide much and gets hit as much as he hands out. So you will want to have values above 50... trust me ;).
Contacts The number of players you hit or that hit on you. Maximum value is matrix size - 1, in our case 13 (because you are not counted :). This tells you how many folks you have been playing. This value should be high, to make the ranking fair for all.
Incidents Sum of Frags + Deaths + Suicides (as indicated in the tables header). Used to sort the ranking matrix, and also used to determine who will be ranked. Only high value players can be ranked to get a good/fair statistic.
Nettos Frags - Deaths - Suicides. Primitive sort of ranking.

Percent values are also are indicated. The last line shows you averages of each column.
